Individual note: John Woollen/Woolland/Wooling I, b 1697 to 1699 m Lettice
Cummins, her will probably 23 Apr 1767. John and Lettice sold
in 1728 Commencement, adjoining Hallowing Point and Davis
Chance. (OLD 208, 4 May 1728). Bought part of Commencement
from Robinson. Will: 20 Nov 1751, proved 13 Mar 1751 Wit:
William Barnes. Lob.D.D. No. 7 (1751-1754) folio 113: To loving
wife dwelling plantation 'Following Point' during her natural
life or widowhood, likewise prt of the 'Comminsments' which
belong to me.. To son John Wolling 'Following Point' and that
above part of 'The Consignments' after my wife's marriage or
decease. Two sons John Wolling 'FollowingPoint' and the land
lying on Blackwater called 'The Herring Point', the division to
be between them. To son Thomas, one negro girl named Tamer as
a legacy. (Later owned by John II). To daughter Mary a negro
boy called Trick as a legacy. To my wife, household goods,
stock and use of 3 negroes, namely a woman Nan, a girl Silence
and a boy Herry. After my wife's death or marriage the 3
negroes to be divided equally among my four children: Jane
Roger, Levin and Job. After my wife's death, my household
goods and stock is to be equally divided amongst my sons and
daughters. Wife appointed sole executric. Signed John Woolen.

Dorchester Co Planter and Jane his wife to John Woollen of
Dorchester Co. Planter part of a parcel of land called
'Commencement' on an island in St. Johns Cr near land of John
Barnes, also adj land called 'Hazzard' formerly conferred by
Robson to Ambrose Aaron and William Riceand now in posession of
Ambrose Aaron and Charles Barnes.
Dor Co MD 8 old 208 4 May 1728: John Woollen of Dor Co
Planter and Lettice his wife to Richard Chapman of Dor Co
Plater; ' All that parcel of landthat the lines of a tract
ofland called the Commencement - taken from a tract of land
called Davisses Chance.'
Dor Co MD Vol 22, 26 Old 401 13 Nov 1770 - 4 Feb 1771. John
Patterson aged about 85 years made a deposition in which he
mentioned John Wollin about 30 years ago.

Received patent for 25 acres 1749 'Addition to Sandwitch'.
1762 buys 40 1/2 acres on Slaughter Creek called 'Last
Purchase'. In 1754 deeded Hallowing Point, part of
Commencement on Taylor Is. to Thomas Woollen, 100 acres plus 50
acres more. Bought slaves 18 May 1794 or 1759. Established
boundries with Wm. Dean, 1762: his wife's Elizabeths
accounting as executrix of John's will says this: 'For all my
nine children: Lettice, Anne, John, Elizabeth, Levin, William,
Amelia, Edward and Benjamin.' John II was a tobacco planter.
His estate appraised at 169 pounds. Will mentions old Negro
slave value 15 pounds, female slave Tamer (who was willed to
brother Thomas in John I's will in 1750. She is now age 30, a
negro boy named Sam (deformed) no value and a negor Girl named
Lead, age 5, value 12 pounds. His wearing apparel valued at 5
pounds, cash 2 pounds, mare & colt, 2 sows, 17 hogs, 10 pigs, 2
old yolk oxen, 3 young steers, 2 heffers, 2 old cows & calves,
1 young bull, furniture, beadstead, furniture for four rooms.
2 old linen wheels, 1 old woolen wheel, parcel of old books, 1
pack of salt, 1 peck of beans, 4 old tubs of feathers, 1 old
gun, powder and shot and etc. (spelling as found). Nearest
kin of William & Edward Woollen. Established land boundries
1762 with William Dean. Dr. Charles Wesley Woollen's letter 29
Sep 1871 to William Wesley Woollen said John fished for whales.
John Wallen, James Woollen and James Woollen Jr. were in the
French and Indian War under John White's Muster Roll (ca
1757-1758) per Maryland Historical Magazine Pg. 264-265 (date
unknown).

Dor Co MD Lib. T. I. No 2, f. 337 (1748 - 1751) Warrants,
March 1794, Warrant granted unto John Wollen for 25 Acres of
land, he having paid 25 Shillings Sterling, land called
'Addition to Sandwitch.' Also see Lib. B.Y.&G.S. No 2, f. 650,
Patents, April 16, 1750, this property described as located on
the Southwest side of a Beaver dam branch that makes out of
Slaughter Creek.
Dor Co MD Lib B.C.&G.S. No. 21, f. 190, Oct 4, 1762, John
Wollen receives a Certificate for 40 1/2 acres of land called
'Last Purchase' on the esst side of Slaughter's Creek.
